Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of Arecibo fans. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Bucaneros had to.

The Arroyo Bucaneros defeated the Arecibo Lobos, 13-1, at Parque de los Lobos today. Leading the charge for Arroyo was center fielder Juan Pérez. He went 4-6 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Arroyo, at 48-20, occupies first place in the Liga Betances Sureste.

A decisive at-bat came in the top of the second inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Ovidio Vargas, reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 2 run3. It made the score 2-0, Arroyo, and helped them go on to win.
