Leones Walk It Off for 33rd Win of Season
The Ponce Leones overcame a fine performance by Isabela left fielder Esteban Álvarez to defeat the Gallitos, 11-10, at Parque de los Leones. Álvarez went 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Ponce reliever Ernesto Ávalos picked up the win to move to 1-0. Cipriano Hidalgo suffered the loss. The Leones' win now puts them at 33-34.

Bernabé Cortázar was the walk-off hero for Ponce. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Leones pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cortázar. "And not try to do too much."
