Cabo Rojo Combatientes starter Absalón Rubio turned in a top-notch performance against the Hormigueros Peregrinos at Parque de los Peregrinos. The result was a win for the Combatientes, 4-1. Cabo Rojo now sits in third place in the Liga Betances Suroeste at 20-26.
Had Alfredo Martínez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Martínez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Combatientes.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Martínez said.
