The Patillas Cuervos topped the Arroyo Bucaneros, 2-1, in Liga Betances action at Jardines de Arroyo. The standout performance belonged to Patillas pitcher and Carolina, Puerto Rico, native Matías Cardona. Cardona got the win, improving to 7-10. He allowed 7 hits and walked 4 over 10 innings. Cardona allowed 1 run. Patillas bumps their record to 24-21 with the win.

Patillas used the timely hitting of Alberto Villarreal to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cuervos on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Cardona. "Sometimes you need just one or two."
