Metropolitanos Defeat Maratonistas, 5-3
|
The San Juan Metropolitanos picked up a win at Terreno de los Maratonistas, knocking off the Coamo Maratonistas, 5-3. Starting pitcher Ricardo Castellanos was a big reason why. Castellanos got the win, improving to 12-3. He allowed 9 hits and walked 1 over 9 innings. Castellanos allowed 3 runs. The Metropolitanos now have a record of 28-15 with the win over Coamo.
The Metropolitanos got a big at-bat from left fielder Martín Blanco. For the game, Blanco was 1-4 with a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 5th triple of the season gave San Juan a 3-0 lead.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said San Juan skipper Luis Tirado. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
