Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Boston Reds and Washington Senators.

Washington wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Pete Conway, falling to the Boston Reds, 5-4. Conway threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. George Meakim earned the win to go to 18-9. He allowed 4 runs on 10 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in 9 innings of work.

Boston first baseman Harry Taylor had a key at-bat for the Reds in the bottom of the seventh inning. Facing right-hander Pete Conway, Taylor hit a run-scoring single. It put Boston in front, 5-4. For the day, Taylor went 2-4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI.

"I like to lead by example," said Taylor. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."

With the victory, the Reds upped their record to 46-37.
