The St. Louis Browns defeated the Boston Reds, 4-3, in American League action at Sportsman's Park I. St. Louis pitcher Jack Stivetts had a standout performance. Stivetts got the win, improving to 15-6. He allowed 10 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. Stivetts allowed 3 runs. St. Louis is now 51-29.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Tom Sexton came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Boston pitcher George Meakim, he hit a 3-0 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting St. Louis on top, 4-3.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Sexton.
