Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Colonels
Louisville Colonels starter Mike Jones was in fine form against the Cleveland Spiders at Eclipse Park II, leading his team to a win, 5-3. Jones went the distance for Louisville. He gave up 3 runs on 10 hits. The first-place Colonels go to 39-20.

Had Ducky Holmes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Holmes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Colonels.

Jones said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
