The Louisville Colonels topped the Baltimore Orioles, 7-6, with left fielder Fred Clarke playing a big role. Clarke was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Colonels in the win. Louisville now sits in first place in the American League at 37-18.

Clarke had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-2 curveball from Les German, he banged a run-scoring double to left-center, giving the Colonels a 7-6 lead. It was the 10th double of the year for Clarke.

"We'll savor this win," Clarke told the Louisville Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
