Browns Resilient in 9-8 Win Over Washington
St. Louis center fielder Tom Gettinger played a vital role in his team's 9-8 triumph over Washington. He was 2-5 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for St. Louis. The first-place Browns lifted their record to 31-16.

The Browns procured the win, in large part because of catcher Deacon McGuire. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

Gettinger told the St. Louis Gazette: "Don't care what other people think. Tom knows who Tom is."
