McKean, Spiders Too Much for Solons
Cleveland took on Columbus in front of a lively crowd.

The Cleveland Spiders beat the Columbus Solons by a score of 11-4. Cleveland second baseman Ed McKean deserved the lion's share of the credit. McKean was 3-3 with a triple, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Spiders. The winner was John Henry, who threw 135 pitches over 9 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits.

With Cleveland leading 5-4 in the bottom of the fourth, McKean hit a fastball from Dan Sheehan for a run-scoring triple. It was his 3rd triple of the season and put the Spiders ahead, 6-4.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Spiders manager Robert Armstrong. "This one was nice to get."

The win leaves Cleveland with a record of 9-18.
