The St. Louis Browns topped the Louisville Colonels, 7-5, with center fielder Charlie Duffee playing a big role. Duffee went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Browns in the win. Picking up the win was Jack Stivetts. He went 9 innings, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits. The right--hander struck out 2 and walked 5. The Browns improved to a lofty 21-8.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Rasty Wright was at the plate when St. Louis scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Browns to go in front, 5-4.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Wright said. "That's how it goes."
