George Meakim could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Boston Reds lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Columbus Solons at Recreation Park II. Columbus is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 4th win in 12 games.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Columbus trailing 1-0, Dave Orr hit a splitter from George Meakim to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Solons had a walk-off win.

"It's not about individual awards," Orr told a Columbus Today reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
