Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Baltimore Orioles were eager to watch Les German square off against Frank Meinke of the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. In the end, the Orioles won the game, 7-2, with Les German leading the way.

The Orioles got a big at-bat from third baseman Monte Cross. For the game, Cross went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Baltimore a 2-0 lead.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Cross said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
