Behind a bravura effort from starter Ricardo Rosario, the Arroyo Bucaneros topped the Isabela Gallitos by the score of 5-4 today and got their first win in the 1897 Campeonato Nacional Puertorriqueño. Rosario threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball for the Bucaneros. The win moves Arroyo into a 1-1 tie with Isabela.

Ovidio Vargas dealt the Gallitos a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Arroyo leading 2-1, Vargas hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run triple.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Vargas told the Arroyo Chronicle.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Jardines de Arroyo in Arroyo.
