Barranquitas got a terrific game from second baseman Luis Cruz. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Corozal, 6-3. Cruz went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ricardo Almirón, the winner, goes to 2-7. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and no strikeouts over 8.1 innings. The Plataneros sit in third place in the Liga Hostos Cordillera Este with a record of 11-22.
Luis Salinas, the 32-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Salinas contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Corozal up, 1-0.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Salinas told the Corozal Herald.
