The Wrexham Druids powered past the hometown Coventry Motors, 7-2, in the opener of the International Series at Motors Field today. Wrexham starting pitcher David Hamilton threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Druids now lead the series 1-0.

Wrexham relied on the hitting of Manuel Cruz to pick up the win. The third baseman ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the fifth inning to put the Druids on top, 6-0. For the game, Cruz had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Cruz said his team "played with focus."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Motors Field in Coventry.
