Caguas starter Jesús Nevárez put a stranglehold on the Yabucoa offense. The left-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Criollos to a 3-1 win. Nevárez went the distance for Caguas. He gave up 1 run on 12 hits. The win lifts Caguas to a record of 2-2.

Nevárez contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he grounded out, driving in 1 run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Caguas get the win.

"I just try to put up zeroes," said Nevárez, "and let the rest take care of itself."
