The Thurso Bucherons started the 1897 season win an impressive 9-4 win against the Sherbrooke Privateers at Bucherons Stadium. Patrick Chauvet, who led the LBQ in innings pitched with 361.1 last year, led the way for Thurso.

The Bucherons got a big at-bat from third baseman Christopher Henderson. For the game, Henderson went 2-4 with a triple and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Thurso a 2-1 lead.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Henderson.
