The Sault Ste. Marie Rapids topped the Hamilton Hammers, 4-3, in Ontario Baseball Association action at Rapids Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Sault Ste. Marie pitcher Edmond Treitz. Treitz went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 7, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-1. The Rapids, at 37-27, sit in first place in the Ontario Baseball Association Northern Division.

Troy Ryall, who finished 4th in the OBA in batting average with .331 in 1893, helped out the Sault Ste. Marie cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the second baseman went 2-4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Ryall told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
