Brampton picked up a win at Brampton Fields, bumping off the Pickering Bonebreakers, 7-3. Pitcher Eugene Kerry was a major reason the Florists emerged victorious. Kerry went the distance for Brampton. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. The Bonebreakers drop to 11-11 and continue their mediocre start to the 1897 season.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder C.J. Griffin came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Pickering pitcher Bill Dukeshire, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Brampton on top, 4-3.
