Meteors Get Dramatic 6-5 Triumph
The Sudbury Meteors got a rain-soaked win over the Markham Wheelwrights.

The Sudbury Meteors turned back the Markham Wheelwrights, 6-5, at Meteors Park. Guy Rolland, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 3-3 with a triple, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times. Sudbury starter Tim Alldritt was credited with the win after throwing 142 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 4-2.

Jeff Shere was the walk-off hero for Sudbury. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Meteors second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Shere said.

The Wheelwrights fall to 6-8 and continue their lackluster start to the 1897 season.
