Odessa Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in CCS
The Odessa Cowhands moved to within one game of the Championship of Texas today, downing the visiting Abilene Preachers at Cowhands Park by a score of 7-2. Cowhands right-hander Lance LaFerriere had a strong outing in which he threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Cowhands a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Circuit Championship Series.

In the bottom of the second, Odessa center fielder Dan Hamelink had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Hamelink stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-2, Odessa. For the game, he went 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Odessa manager Tomás Reyes told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Cowhands Park in Odessa.
