Pericos Dominate, Sweep Campeonato Interdivisional
|
After their 7-6 win today at Parque de Cienfuegos over the Cienfuegos Elefantes, the Holguin Pericos will advance to the Campeonato Nacional de Cuba. Holguin won the series by a 3-0 margin.
Leading the way for the Pericos was catcher Jack Doyle, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP.
"I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus."
The Holguin Pericos don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Matanzas Henequeneros - Artemisa Rojos series. Artemisa leads the series 2 games to 0. The Campeonato Nacional de Cuba schedule will be announced after the Campeonato Interdivisional finishes.
